An exasperated woman was heard off-camera saying ‘oh please’ in response to Theresa May‘s Brexit speech in Downing Street last night.

The gaffe was heard on Sky News at the end of a speech in which Theresa May attacked MPs for failing to support her deal or make headway with Brexit, saying it was ‘high time’ politicians made a decision.

Speaking ahead of today’s trip to Brussels, she finished her speech by saying, ‘now you want us to get on with it, and that is what we are determined to do.’

But as she walked away from the lectern, a woman behind the camera then said, ‘oh please’.

Despite being barely audible, the sarcastic comment was immediately noticed by people on Twitter, with ITV news correspondent Angus Walker saying, ‘could swear I heard someone say “oh please” just after @TheresaMay finished speaking.

‘Clearly someone wasn’t convinced,’ he added.

Mrs May was in Brussels today to request an extension to Britain’s departure from the EU until June 30, following last week’s failure to pass her Brexit deal in the House of Commons.

She plans to put her deal to another vote next week, just days before Britain is due to depart the EU on March 29.

MPs responded fiercely to criticism by Mrs May in her Downing Street speech, with some saying that her comments could spark attacks on them.
